Birthday card

I don't think I have posted a picture of this card already-it was a card I made for my sister-in-law's birthday couple of years ago.

I stamped the image on to the card using archival ink -not too keen on this ink really as it does stain rubberstamps, but it does mean the image is waterproof and so I was able to colour in with watercolours.
Buttons and ribbon added the finishing touches. :-)

Card and flowers

Enjoyed a crafting day with a friend this week - she had kindly extended their dining table, and we still managed to fill it to bursting with cards and papers and all the various crafting paraphernalia!!

This is one of my recent makes that I prepared for our crafting day. I set myself a challenge to use up scraps of paper, and think it worked out really well :-)

My next paper crafting passion seems to be flowers. I bought a paper crafting magazine which had a cutting die as a free gift. Hard to believe that this :-

- translates into these!

I also treated myself to a lovely new punch this week, bit of a bargain!

Enjoying some playing this weekend. I should have been visiting family today, but my sciatica is playing up again, making walking any distance quite difficult. Both driving, or walking round Manchester Picadilly rail station weren't going to work! The house is a tip, but who cares, there's always crafting :-)

I've got a couple of crafting days coming up, so today yet again the housework has taken a back seat, and I've been playing! My cat Tiny has been trying to 'help', chasing ribbon and scrunching paper - had to wait until she had curled  up and fallen asleep in her favourite spot before I could get things done :-)
These two cards both involve some paper piecing, die cutting, and some stamping. Great way to use up scraps of pretty paper. The dust will have to wait yet again tomorrow, as I'm planning more playing :-). Sorry about the shadows on the photos, it's hard work trying to get a decent picture at night.

New chapter

Bit of a sad day today. I called in to my village library where I used to work until recently, and handed in my keys to the building :(. Very occasionally, it was my job to open up the library in the morning or close up at night - always a bit nerve wracking setting burglar alarms etc, but I managed to do everything correctly without any mishaps!

Even though I had only worked there for a short time, I felt like I really belonged there and loved the work and meeting customers. But life moves on! The crafting group called 'Knit and natter' were there, and persuaded me to join the group on Thursday afternoons. Must admit, when I was working there it was always very tempting to linger near the table and have a look at what they were working on! So next week I shall be there, and have promised to take along some crochet I am doing at the moment - a couple of them want to learn how to crochet, and I've offered to teach them. I'll enjoy being part of the group, and it will be nice still to be in 'my' library :-)

Meanwhile - here's my cat (Tiny) watching TV! She honestly seems to love anything that features dogs and cats (this was a rescue pet programme), and was glued to the screen!

Crafty musings

I read a great article this morning which I could totally identify with - you can read it HERE

I think a lot of us who are crafters can identify with all those 10 benefits listed-I know I certainly can!

Retreating into my crafty space gives me an enormous sense of well-being. Yes, I may have brain overload with all the projects I want to both start and complete, but crafting has taught me patience and concentration, problem solving, creativity, and a real sense of achievement. I get to meet up with fellow crafters to share ideas and techniques, and have made some lovely friends online, some of whom I have gone on to meet in person.

Part of my crafty corner is completely self-indulgent - I enjoy being able to admire and also to be able to easily access my crafty stash, and also display some of the projects I have made and am currently working on. Yes, the dust in my house will have to wait patiently a little longer to be removed :-)

Birthday card

Finally made a card - first one in ages. My craft room is much tidier and organised now, and I find the calmer space is having a big effect on my creativity.

I bought the card I used to make it from a lovely craft shop in a village not too far from here. It's beautiful double sided card, the photo doesn't really do the colours justice.  I had met a friend for afternoon tea (and cake, in my case lol) and the craft centre is just next door.

I made the little envelope on the card using another of my nifty gadgets, this one being an 'Envelope Punch Board' - amazing thing, which I can use to make a variety of different sized envelopes and boxes.

I think I may also have caused my friend to develop a papercrafting addiction too :-)

Hope you like it :-)

Catching up

Well, it's been quite awhile since I blogged. As I mentioned, I got a lovely part time job in the library and was so happy about it.

I hadn't realised just what a physical and strenuous job it would be. A few weeks after starting the job I developed some back strain, and had to take a bit of time off work to recover. Then, a few weeks later whilst I was bending down to pick something up I felt something 'go' and ended up in the most awful pain. It turns out that I had fallen victim to sciatica, and needed to go for physiotherapy to sort things out. Never known such pain!

Anyway, I reluctantly decided that the job wasn't for me and handed in my resignation.  My manager was lovely, and was very complimentary about the work I had done for them etc. Now that I have taken the decision to leave, I do feel like a weight has been lifted off me. I had been very anxious about the thought of returning to work and the same thing happening again.

Anyway, enough of all that-I now have time to craft again! Over the last few days I have been having a major clear out and tidy up in my craft room. My new toy is a nifty little gadget that makes labels, so as you can see I have been labelling all the various boxes and drawers  It's going to make my crafting life a lot easier, as I can now go straight to the box I need to find my crafting bits and pieces :-)

Hope to return very soon with some of my crafty makes :-)
