I covered the drawer fronts with some lovely card stock I bought at my local crafts store, and varnished them using glue and seal. The boxes themselves are just made out of plywood, so I coated them with some teak oil that I had in my cupboard, and which is used on some of my furniture to keep the wood in good condition. Did the job perfectly!

Well, after being crocked up for the past 10 days finally I can stand up straight, bend over and reach things!! My GP confirmed I had pulled muscles in my back, advised me to carry on with the physio I am currently receiving, and keep taking the tablets lol. but I cannot describe how wonderful it is to be able to move around much more easily and get back to some sort of routine. He did sign me off work for the coming week in order to concentrate on Physio and exercises, which I suppose is fair enough. I am however anxious to get back to my lovely job, and will take his advice and not rush back too soon.
In the meantime I have finally got around to making a start on tidying up my tip of a craft room. I don't know why paper crafting is such an untidy occupation, but reading other peoples blogs I realise this is pretty common.
I decided to make a start on my desk-oh my goodness, such a collection of ribbons, templates, rubber stamps, glues, paper pads - you name it it was there. Took me half an hour to put everything back in its rightful place and to do a bit of general household maintenance in there ha ha. It's a start-have got the rest of the room to tackle, but I will do it in bite sized chunks.
I haven't finished covering the drawer fronts of the IKEA boxes, but now that I have room to work on the desk, there's a good chance they'll be finished this weekend.:-)
And now the desk.....ta da!

Something a bit different.
These Papier mache letters were originally intended for a canvas I'm working on, but I saw an idea on Pinterest and decided to use them differently.
I glued the letters together using cosmic shimmer glue which, as all crafters know, is incredibly strong. I die cut the leaves and then clear embossed them. The flower started out as a plain wooden shape, to which I added frantage embossing powder (same as on the letters). Voila - some home decor :-)

Just a simple card that I have made ready for my great niece's third birthday.
At the moment I am stuck at home with a bad back! I can't bend down, sit or stand for any length of time, and it is driving me nuts!! A week ago I bent down to pick something up from the floor, and felt something 'go' in my back. My physio said that I have pulled some muscles, and gave me exercises to do and did a bit of back manipulation. They are all sadists! However, I think finally today I can see a little bit of improvement, but the pain has been horrendous.
Crafting is a wonderful diversion
I love my new job, but I'm feeling really bad about having to stay off work this week. I did go in a couple of days after doing my back in thinking I would get by. However my manager soon gathered something was up, and I got sent home! I've only been working there for four weeks, but they have been incredibly supportive about it all, and told me to stay off until I am fully recovered. I'm missing the job and the lovely people I work with, but hopefully I will be well enough to go back soon.
