This is my first ever attempt at a canvas!  I had this plain white canvas for months and never quite dared to get started, but decided one day to go for it!
I applied a layer of gesso to the canvas, and overstamped a range of patterns, flowers etc with both Archival and Distress inks. I added various cut out dies, wooden embellishments, paper flowers, pins and even a bit of lace.  To the die cut in the middle (which actually covers up a bit of a mess I made!) I added some frantage which adds dimension and sparkle.  Actually this iphone photo doesn't do it all justice as the colours are subtle and pretty.
I'd really love some feedback on this and would welcome any comments!

Christmas angel

A simple card, made using a favourite rubber stamp. I stamped it onto plain white card, and again onto the patterned paper (free in a magazine). I then cut out her dress and adhered it to the image printed on the white card, and then mounted it. Added some sparkle to her wings, and a touch of colour to her cheeks. A simple sentiment completed this little card.

I think I have finally sussed out blogger too - phew!

Christmas tree

Another card made for a friend who loves purple! I used my favourite Inky Doodles stamp, and coloured with Promarkers, adding a bit of sparkle with a Gelly Roll pen. Quick and easy!

A crafty corner

Until I dust off my camera and take some better photos of cards I've made, I thought I'd share a small corner of my crafting space with you.
My shelves (above my desk) were such a jumble of bottles and pens (love my Promarkers!) I felt a good tidy up was long overdue.  Having learned how to make boxes at my card making class a couple of weeks ago (and they are so easy to do - should have tried a long time ago!)  I made a few small ones to house some of my crafty stash. Not content with a few box bases, I punched out some flower shapes to decorate the fronts, so that I could write on a simple label.
My craft room is still a work in progress, but at least I can see my desk and have a working space again - and it has been such fun rediscovering all sorts of crafting goodies :)

Winter window

Bad blogger returns....:)

For this card, I used the 'Winter window' stamp from one of my favourite designers, Inky Doodles   I stamped the design on to plain white card using Memento, and added a minimal amount of colour to give the feeling of a wintry scene.  I shaded with a pale blue Promarker, and used a Gelly Roll 'Clear Star' pen to highlight edges.  Also I used 2 shades of brown and a red for Mr Robin.  I mounted it on some silver Mirri card, and then added to a Kraft card blank. Voila!  I was very flattered Sarah displayed it on her Facebook page!

Crafty day - 8 cards!

Over the summer, my papercrafting friends and I had one of our crafty get togethers. We spent a day crafting at Sue's - she has a lovely big kitchen table (which is very handy for the tea and cakes she supplies us with!). We each design 2 cards and demo them to the others, and provide the materials for the others to make the cards.  So at the end of the day, we come away with lots of ideas and 6 cards designed by the others, but made by us. Always such a lovely day, and I'm looking forwards to the next one in early October :)

So here are the cards :-

Mine first.......

Ros designed the next 2 - she does a lot of sewing especially quilting, so her cards reflect this.....

Next are Sue's 2 cards ........

And finally Cheryl's cards......

Everyone's style is completely different, which is why these days are so good - I've got more interested in using materials and beads, and get a bit more adventurous in my card making.

House mouse

I love House Mouse - and it had been ages since I had made a House Mouse card. So, here's one I have made for my niece's birthday. I used the Feathered Friends rubber stamps (fab quality which give amazing detail) and stamped using black Memento. I coloured with Promarkers - sandstone and blush for Mr mouse, and lavender, blossom, cool grey 1 and peony for the rest. And some stickles to add dimension and sparkle to the soap bubbles.
As always, apologies for the poor quality photos - had to use my iPhone again. Not sure why a pinkish area appeared behind mouse's head - it's on white card!

Blogger still continues to puzzle and confuse me!  I have been trying for AGES to get back on here and had just about given up hope, when a fellow blogger explained how I could retrieve my account and ta-da!  I'm back!

Where to start.....

Well, here's a card I made for a friend's birthday using my current favourite stamps from Indy Doodles.  I printed the background using a silicone stamp with distress ink, and all the other bits and bobs were made from stamps in the same set. I'd posted it on Facebook, and a friend's husband asked me to make one for his wife's birthday in her favourite colour lilac. Happy to do so!

I love Inky Doodles stamps - they are great quality, and I've found the 'stitching' stamp really useful to edge cards. And of course, some organza ribbon finishes things off nicely.
I hope I find my way back in here this week - lots more to share :)

- and if there's some decent light tomorrow, I'll take some photos. The final thing is very self indulgent, involving metallic stains, die cuts, wooden embellishments and pins. Now to make one for my lounge. Mr mojo has come back, at long last :)

A bit more....

.....progress with my canvas...

I really didn't have any plans or designs in mind when I started this little project, other than colours that might match my bedroom. I've added a bit of random stamping using Archival ink, and coloured the card for the flowers using the same Distress colours I used on the canvas. I've added 2 wooden embellishments. Tomorrow I'm going to add some detail to the middle - probably some words.

Feeling good to actually be creating again - this was just an experiment, but it may just find a space on my bedroom wall.  I'll be back with more photos when it's finished!

Got these lovely goodies in my local branch of Home Sense last week:-

The craft tote was £9.99 (usually around £20), and the gorgeous paper pad (some fab designs) was £7.99 - and they're on sale at £19.99 at various outlets online!!
Think I might just go back for more!

Finally started work on a canvas! I've had a real crisis of confidence and lack of mojo in recent months, but looking at some work done by Hels Sheridan and Nicky from Polkadoodles has sparked my creativity - yay!

Early stages: I applied a thin coat of gesso to a plain white canvass, and once dried covered it with a silvery Distress stain.  I then applied some distress stains and distress inks through some Stamps Away stencils. At one of Hels demos, she said it's all about building up layers - so here I go! Going to let it dry out overnight, then add some more - and go a bit 3D with some embellishments - so watch this space.  Visit Hels at to see her inspirational work

Having real problems uploading photos! Things to share, so frustrating :(

Wall hanging

I watched a great demo on Create and Craft today - Nicky from Polkadoodles was demonstrating how to do a wall hanging, which involved priming the canvas with Gesso, using stencils and pan pastels, stamping, and paper flowers. My imagination went into overdrive - which, believe me, is wonderful after a stale few months!!

i took a couple of screenshots on my ipad :-

I've got a canvas (picked one up at Poudland), Gesso, stencils. I don't have pan pastels, but may stipple distress inks instead (I'll do a try out first).  And maybe I could use a Dylusions spray too....

Can't wait to play - tomorrow is hospital visiting, and work Thurs and Fri - but Saturday I'll be playing!!

Birthday card update

As promised, a better photo of the card I posted about yesterday, the card I've made for my brother's birthday.
It's still not a great photo - just cannot get used to my new Fujifilm camera and seem incapable of taking a half decent close up shot of anything. I so wish I hadn't given away my older model, which took the most superb photos :(   Ah well, maybe I'll get used to this eventually.

Without more ado, here's the photo:-

It all looks very flat - you can't see the raised embossed detail on the Coredinations card unfortunately, so you'll have to take my word for it!  I'm really pleased with the 'real life' version - think my brother will be too :)

Back - finally!

Well - what can I say?  It's been far too long, don't know where this year has gone.  What with recovering from surgery, touch of the winter blues, returning to work part time and a big dose of procrastination, little crafting has been done.  And too much time on Pinterest too!

So - having abandoned the craft room in recent times, it was time for a blitz in there.  As all papercrafters know, we accumulate so much stash, which gets piled up and forgotten about, and it all becomes too much.

I needed some new shelving, and hit upon a great little unit from Argos - very easy self assembly. It fits beautifully at the back of my deep office desk, and still leaves me a lot of room to create. I've stored all the stuff I use most often on there - tools, inks, glues, stickles etc - used to drive me mad keep having to get up to find them each time.  No doubt these shelves will soon get filled up haha!

So, major blitz has been done, stash has been put away (ooh and I found so many lovely goodies I'd forgotten I had!) so let the creating commence!  Wednesday will be my chance to play in there - have got a lovely idea for my brothers' birthday card, so will be starting work on that

See you soon!  Trying to work out how to upload photos using Google+ !!

PS Finally worked out how to upload photos with Google+ - couple of pics to show my new shelf unit - got it from Argos. Yay!
